Lyme Disease –
Lyme is the fast spreading infectious disease in the US and can even be spread by mosquitos and is pretty endemic in Pac NW. In my opinion antibiotics should be taken preventively or in the ACUTE infection as the risk is far outweighed by the severity of Lyme disease.
Antibiotics DO NOT seem to be effective after the ACUTE infection

Les Berenson MD – My DAILY steps to beat Lyme

6) Cowden protocol (see below) – 4X / day. This is a 9 month protocol by one of the wises Lyme literate docs (retired). Considering all the difficulties MANY have in treating and enduring lime for 10+ years, 9 months seems easy. I’m in month 5 and doing quite well.
Cowden protocol – 9 month protocol – (one I’m using – LB)
Dr. Richard, Horowitz of New York found the Cowden protocol to be effective in 70–80% of patients with advanced Lyme disease who had coin infections in a period of 4–6 months, even if the patient’s condition had not previously improved over several course of antibiotics. One of the reasons for the success of the Cowden protocol is the fact that the microbial defense products have a broad spectrum activity against bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses, they are also anti-inflammatory and nontoxic to the body

Simple Tips To Prevent Lyme Disease– by Jill Carnahan MD, ABFM,
Jill Carnahan MD is a well respected doc with lots of functional medicine training and one of the presenters at my mold conference last year. I diagnosed myself as having acte Lyme when I had a lip crusting that wouldn’t heal for few months, and when I was at a Lyme conference this year, I realized this had been a Lyme complication and the skin lesion I thought was ringworm that wouldn’t respond, few months earlier on my shin, was the target lesion of Lyme. Took antibiotics and eventually went away.
